Galaxy Sample Tracking Documentation

Galaxy has a sample tracking system which can be used in a lab environment to track sequencing requests. When using this sample tracking system, a regular user can create a sequencing request and track it as it goes through various stages.

If you are a USER (submitting samples for sequencing):

A regular user may access Galaxy sample tracking feature using the Lab menu in Galaxy masthead. A user can see the Lab menu when they have at least one sequencing request (created by a lab manager) or if they have access permission to at least one active sequencer configuration. If a user does not have access permission to any sequencer configuration, then the user can only view the existing requests but cannot create any new sequencing request.

This is what you can do:

1. Create and submit a sequencing request.

2. Edit and resubmit a rejected sequencing request.

3. Obtain datasets at the end of a sequencing run.

This is what you can do:

0. Setup the Galaxy sample tracking system according to the core facility workflow.

1. Create and submit a sequencing request on behalf of another user.

2. Reject an incomplete or erroneous sequencing request.

3. Receive samples and assign them bar codes.

4. Setup data transfer from the sequencer

5. Transfer the datasets from the sequencer to Galaxy at the end of the sequence run.
